I took a bike ride down to Smith Point yesterday morning. Nearly a year after Sandy, the boardwalk to the Fire Island wildlife area still hasn’t been repaired, and only a portion of it will be rebuilt, according to a wildlife center staffer I  met. That meant my trip stopped at the beach. And that was just fine with me.
