I gave an updated presentation of the SPJ “mobile newsgathering” session at the Excellence in Journalism Convention last month in Anaheim, Calif., and boy, how things have changed since I first started doing it about two years ago. The group of 75-100 was much more knowledgeable about using their smartphones and less skeptical about the benefits. A few years ago, there were few examples of quality work.
