I’m honored to have been elected this weekend to the national board of the Society of Professional Journalists, the largest and most broad-based journalism organization in the country. I promise to do all I can to help make the Society and even more valuable resource to journalists everywhere.

Thanks to everyone who voted for me in this first open online election, and to those who supported me leading up to the vote.

Congratulations, too, goes to my friend and Newsday colleague Bill Bleyer on his award for SPJ chapter service, and to my home chapter, the Press Club of Long Island, for being named Northeast chapter of the year.

It was a good weekend all around.
